In this answer we are going to show you how to create a global discount and how to setup a notification that will show users they are close to getting a discount. (this will encourage users to add more to the cart in order to get a savings.)

You will find this by going to your E-commerce module, clicking on "Global Discounts/Coupons". *NOTE a global discount is a discount that will automatically apply when an order meets the discount criteria.  A coupon requires the user to enter a code AND have the criteria of the discount met. (Example, if you have the discount set at 10% off when more than $5 is purchased then the criteria for your discount is that there be at least $5 in the cart to get the discount) For a more detailed instruction on setting up discounts see this article.

You will need to setup the notification by checking the check box to "Show popup message about discounts".  Then customize your message.

You will need to set how much of a difference you want between what is in the cart currently and when they get a notification about the discount.  In my video example at the bottom you can see I set the trigger to go off when they are within $2 of their discounted price.
