In this area you can add more Product types and Fields.

 

First lets explain what a product type is:

A Product Type allows you to create product fields unique to products given a specific type.  It also allows you to create a unique layout for each, or a certain product type.

 

A Product Field is:

A product field is a field that you see when editing the products.  For example some of the default fields are "price" "Description" "Sku".  You can add fields as needed.

 

There are several different types of Product Fields.  Here is what they are and what they do:

Small Text

This field allows you to have text up to 250 Characters long
Large Text
This field is used to add text, like your description field it will hold a large number of characters.
Maximum size is 16 Mb. If text contains only latin letters and digits then each character takes 1 byte. So in this case the max number of characters is 16'777'216.
Integer
You can use this field when a whole number is required. For example: Number of items included: 2
Decimal
You can use this field when a non whole number needs to be used.  example: Inches in length: 30.5
Currency
This field allows you to have a currency for your items.  If you wish to have an alternate pricing option this is the type of field you would use
Image
This field allows you to have another image field.
Checkbox
This field adds a check box in your edit product area.  One use of this would be to  have a check box named "Remanufactured".  then when you have an item that is Remanufactured you would check the check box for that item, and then it would show up as a Remanufactured item. (NOTE: this field will need to be added to your products layout builder and configured)
Enum - Dropdown
This option give you the ablility to have Drop down options for your products.  For example if you want to have a multiple choice for the Condition of your product like "New, Used, or Refurbished" then you could create each of those option in a drop down list.(NOTE: this does not offer your customers different options for your product, this only allows you to have different options for setting up your product.  Setting up options for your customers to choose from like color or size can be setup here)
Enum - Radio Group
This option give you the ablility to have Radio options for your products.  For example if you want to have a multiple choice for the Condition of your product like "New, Used, or Refurbished" then you could create each of those option in a Radio Button list.(NOTE: this does not offer your customers different options for your product, this only allows you to have different options for setting up your product.  Setting up options for your customers to choose from like color or size can be setup here)
Enum - Checkbox Group
This option give you the ablility to have Multiple check box options for your products.  For example if you want to have a multiple choice for the Condition of your product like "New, Used, or Refurbished" then you could create each of those option in a Check box group.(NOTE: this does not offer your customers different options for your product, this only allows you to have different options for setting up your product.  Setting up options for your customers to choose from like color or size can be setup here)
Enum - Multi-select List
This option give you the ablility to have Multi select list for your products.  For example if you want to have a multiple choice for the Condition of your product like "New, Used, or Refurbished" then you could create each of those option in a Multi select list.(NOTE: this does not offer your customers different options for your product, this only allows you to have different options for setting up your product.  Setting up options for your customers to choose from like color or size can be setup here)
Attached File/URL This field allows you to have a file or URL with your product.  This is most often used to include instruction for an item.
Country

This field is used to tell your customers where that particular item ships to for example:

Ceramic Vase, This product ships to the following Countries: United States (NOTE: this does not setup shipping to that area, this simply informs your buyers)

State/Province  

This field is used to tell your customers where that particular item ships to for example:

Plastic Vase, This product ships to the following Cities: Michigan, Ohio, Texas  (NOTE: this does not setup shipping to those area, this simply informs your buyers)

 

 

NOTE: by default the product fields that show up on your products details page layout are: SKU, Title, Image, Description, Control Line(which is your add to cart option), product options, & price.  Any new fields created will need to be added to the layout of your item list frame and configured.  To see more info on the layout builder please go here

 

With these set of options they will vary slightly by selction.  See more below

Type
The Types and uses are defined above
Default Value This area will look different depending on the "type" selected.  But all have the same purpose.  This will show a default value.  If nothing is entered then nothing will be default.  If it is a check box type for example you can choose if the default action for the check box is checked or unchecked.  The small text field will allow you to have default text there, but can be changed when adding new products if needed.
Show After This option allows you to choose the placing of your new field
Required
This option allows you to choose whether this new field has to be filled out before you are allowed to save the product
Include in Search in Admin
This option allows this field to be searched in the admin area(this mean this field will be searchable when searching through products in the members area)
Include in Admin Invoice
This means the site admin will get this field included when emailed an invoice
Include in Customer Invoice This means the Customer will get this field included when emailed an invoice
Include in Vendor Invoice This means the selected Vendor will get this field included when emailed an invoice
Include in Order Export
This means the order export will include this field when an export is done.
